Ber-Mac’s head office is in Calgary,
Alberta with 13 branch offices across
Western Canada. Its Calgary facility
incorporates, in one central location, design
and drafting, and office and panel
manufacturing space, ensuring consistency
and ease of communication during all project
stages. The facility has the capability of
expansion as demands increase.
Its more than 400 employees include an
instrument and electrical group made up of
over 100 engineers, technologists, designers,
instrument specialists and CADD operators,
and an automation group.
“Innovation starts with the people, the
know-how at Ber-Mac,” says Lessard. “We
have got some of the brightest minds in our
industry. Over the 30 years we have been in
business, our strength has been retention of
the company’s knowledge base.”
With international projects Ber-Mac
employs international staff, drawing from
local sources. Lessard adds: “It makes our
ability to deliver better and more cost-
effectively, using employment from other
countries.”
NEW MARKETS
The next step for Ber-Mac is to further
globalize the business, with plans to move
into the Middle East and South American
markets.
Ber-Mac also wants to continue to develop
and improve its synergies with parent
company ABB. “ABB spends over one billion
Euros a year in research and development,’
says Lessard. “Its growth also includes
acquisitions of companies that can bring
specific products in the marketplace, and
developing those acquired companies into
the ABB philosophy.”
