GLOBAL RENEWABLES ONLINE - DECEMBER 2011
There is a particular advantage to mining
companies to dewater and use the company’s
expertise. “In mining, there is value in waste
products. By dewatering, containing the
solids, you can assess the solids to see what
value is in there. Smaller amounts that are
available can be taken out. When you have to
remove waste, 99 per cent is water. But now
instead of 1000 gallons of waste, we only
have 100 gallons and the rest is usable
material. It is also a cleaner product that can
go into other water treatment practices.
Therefore, we are putting a cleaner water
filtrate back into the environment,” he
continues.
The bottom line? “For the industrial
customer, there are cost savings but also
environmental savings—which represents a
dual return on investment.”
For the company’s rural municipal
customers, Bishop Water Technologies works
to develop an innovative water treatment
process, and the partnerships are “very long-
term,” Bossy says. Ultimately, the company
is looking to optimize their products, and
Bossy says “I don’t think we’re the cheapest
option out there, but we are not interested in
being the cheapest. We are the best quality
and that is the most important aspect of
water technology.”
From the consultation stages of a water
treatment project to completion, Bishop
