the best products on the market in
order to provide quality services to
its customers. Originally, Unrau had
plans to compete in the land manage-
ment industry in Manitoba, and con-
tinue developing better systems for the
company’s customers. However, the
demand for the company’s tile drain-
age systems and piping systems were
growing faster than Unrau expected.
About a year ago, we realized we
couldn’t get what we needed from
existing suppliers for our systems, and
we decided to start our own plant,”
he says. And the company began Ac-
cuPipe, the manufacturing side of the
business, in order to address the gap in
their market.
We started by looking around
for equipment and evaluating what it
would take to build a manufacturing
side of the business. We leased a lo-
cal space and we ended up buying a
used line from a company in the U.S.,
and started piecing it together,” Unrau
explains. This was a new and very dif-
ferent venture for the team, so being
thorough and practical was key to the
process.
We took the grass-roots ap-
proach, and kept things simple. We
wanted to get it started with a lower
cost, and get our foot in the door,” he
says. “Now, we will focus on mak-
ing the plant more sophisticated, and
ramp up production—that’s what
we’re doing now.”
Just like in the Precision Land So-
lutions business, the staff at AccuPipe
will make sure that they can manufac-
ture the best product and do that ex-
ceptionally well. “As we evolve, we’ll
expand production and sales outside
our existing territories, but maintain-
ing the best quality possible,” Unrau
states.
AccuPipe is committed to manu-
facturing pipe that will keep customers
happy long term. “I know the agricul-
ture business well, and your customer
relationship it is the most important
in the world. If you don’t have a great
product and excellent relationships
you’re not going to go far. It’s very
rewarding to be able to create both,”
Unrau beams.
