ECO-H TECHNOLOGIES INC.
For this pioneering company, it
all comes back to product innovation.
Our customers are the ones who want
to be innovation leaders—so we want
to send the message to people ‘don’t
be a follower, be a leader.’ And this in-
volves working with AVL. This is why
we’re successful,” DiCristofaro notes.
With ECO-H and ONEPOWER, we
are able to differentiate us from com-
panies who just do assemblies.”
ECO-H is the next great move for AVL.
The company has been working dili-
gently on perfecting the ECO-H tech-
nology, and CIO got a sneak peek into
the company’s plans.
As a technology, ECO-H stabilizes
transient load profiles through the use
of its Hybrid Power Management Sys-
tem. The main function of the system
is to supply power and store energy,
offering immediate on demand power
and genset load levelling—an incred-
ible technology for an old industry. En-
ergy stability is critical for producers,
who can rely on the ECO-H system to
keep things “on the level.”
According to the company’s pub-
lic information, retrofitting existing
sites with the ECO-H system compli-
ments the LNG and/or diesel gensets
with reduction in fuel consumption
and emissions. The system is available
on a skid or trailer. The benefits are
substantial and directly impact ROI:
power management, significant fuel
savings, and reduced emissions—a key
for the oil and gas industry.
In some cases, ECO-H has been
shown to save 2,000 dollars a day in
fuel, plus the equivalent in emissions.
We’re never going to replace fossil
fuels, but we can make them more ef-
ficient,” DiCristofaro explains. “With
ECO-H we found a solution through
which we can balance the peak and
the valleys of a genset—we lock it at a
sweet spot through the ECO-H system.
Rather than the engine trying to fol-
low the power requirement, anything
above or below that sweet spot and
the system will enable the batteries, or,
the battery will take a charge. You can
imagine how much more efficient and
productive oil and gas companies can
be,” he continues.
With a 10-12 year life cycle, and
no moving parts, ECO-H is truly revo-
lutionary. And ECO-H Technologies
has big plans for the system. “This is
the first time this type of renewable
hybrid technology has been seen for
this type of application,” Maxwell
adds.
When it comes to roll-out, cus-
tomers will need to contact ECO-H
Technologies for further information
on the ECO-H system and its appli-
cations. And with a technology so
groundbreaking, ECO-H Technologies
is on the hunt for potential partners.
We are proud to be made in
Canada, but we do jobs for compa-
nies that are shipped globally: i.e. to
Latin America, Africa, etc.,” DiCristo-
faro notes. However, although AVL
is proud to be international, Maxwell
makes a point of explaining that the
company is committed to staying
within a 50km for purchasing. “This
increases our efficiency greatly, which
is incredibly important to our success.”
The company works with community
partners, aligning with lots of machine
shops and local suppliers.
Success has certainly come to
AVL’s door, but the company knows
that its current accomplishments are
just a hint of what’s to come. “This
company is going to be a blockbuster
company: we have a lot going on,”
Maxwell concludes. For a company
that is truly Canadian, and often thou-
sands of kilometres away from its cus-
tomers, AVL will be a heavyweight in
oil and gas well into the future.
