ness, but they are not necessarily
knowledgeable about the benefits of
spray-in liners. They may only know
about lay-in liners of the past. Since
then the rules and regulations have
changed with regards to the environ-
ment, and companies can be heavily
fined for doing things improperly.
They rely on ABI for the right contain-
ment solution. The other benefit to a
spray-in liner is that if ever it needs
to be removed, it can be recycled. You
can’t do that with other products and
lay-ins,” she explains.
The ABI team has a good sense
of where business is headed. “When
it comes right down to it, there are
other companies that do spray in lin-
ers. What we want to do is get a bet-
ter footprint into Saskatchewan. We’re
hoping we can be instrumental in
educating and guiding the industry to
understand why spray-in liners are the
best way to go in the long run. There
aren’t the same rules and regulations
around ground containment. We have
15 year old liners still in use to this
day.” Welter continues. “2012 could
prove to be a busy year due to a back-
log of projects from recessionary cut-
backs, increased oilsands activity, and
poor weather last summer. Our long
term goals include expanding to other
industries, such as mining, and pos-
sibly joint venture alliances with other
oilfield contractors.”
The great thing for the oil and gas
industry, with ABI involved, is that
pioneers ABI know exactly what the
answer is for any containment proj-
ect. “There is no job too big or small,”
Welter says. Carpenter agrees. “We
pioneered this industry in Alberta and
Northern B.C., and we are honest and
proficient at what we do, and we will
continue to serve the market the way
we always have.”
The company will continue to
serve customers and says that with
their solutions, “we only ever need to
return to an old containment site be-
cause of add ons or someone has ac-
cidentally damaged with a machine.”
Alberta’s B.E.S.T. is proud to say they
have never had to return to restore the
integrity of any containment they have
done—even if it’s 15 years later. That
is just how being the “BEST” works:
flawless customer service and the most
innovative solutions in the business.
