GLOBAL RENEWABLES ONLINE - JANUARY 2012
According to the company, it has
“a strong spirit of partnership, aimed
at sustainably transferring Vergnet’s
know-how to users so they can take
ownership of the operation and
maintenance of their facilities.”
Since the 1990s, Vergnet has been
growing its wind business, with over
700 wind turbines currently
operating around the world.
According to the company, Vergnet
turbines show extreme resiliency,
even in the harshest conditions.
TURBINES
Vergnet wind turbines are 2-blade.
The company states that the 2-blade
rotor is “lighter, easier to install and
easier to tilt down for maintenance
or for hurricane protection,” and
being able to tilt a turbine means
that they can be serviced easily and
quickly. Vergnet turbines have a 20
year life cycle. Power produced by a
wind turbine does not result from a
multitude of blades but rather on
the swept area of the turbine—
therefore, running with two blades
can produce as much wind energy
as a rotor with three blades.
The company says that “Rotating-
hub technology which Vergnet has
been improving for 20 years, and
incorporating the latest technologi-
cal advances in the aeronautics
industry (helicopter rotors), allows
the forces exerted on the structure
“When you consider that the 275KW Vergnet turbine –
assembled on the ground and maintained on the ground—is
transpor table, we can put these turbines in remote areas,”
