Dauncey is active in the
renewables community, as a speak-
er, author and sustainable commu-
nities consultant. He is author of the
award-winning book Stormy Weath-
er: 101 Solutions to Global Climate
Change, and co-author of Cancer:
101 Solutions to a Preventable
Epidemic, and founder of The
Solutions Project. As the lead at
BCSEA, Dauncey runs the
association’s various initiatives.
CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT
The BCSEA employs a member-
driven approach—once there are 10
members in a local area, the
members are invited to form a Local
Chapter. According to the associa-
tion website, Local Chapters
“support the BCSEA’s campaigns
and undertake independent local
activities, such as holding monthly
meetings with speakers, organizing
local Sustainable Energy Tours,
putting on biodiesel or electric
vehicle demonstrations or forming a
car-share cooperative.”
INITIATIVES
BCSEA operates a number of
initiatives on an annual basis.
SolarBC is a joint program of the
BCSEA and EAGA, and has facili-
tated the installation of 546 solar
hot water systems in homes across
BC, in addition to numerous instal-

and provincial groups have taken
up the sustainable energy cause, utilizing industry
connections and experts in the field to promote renewable
energy. CIO spoke with Guy Dauncey, President, Victoria
chapter of the BC Sustainable Energy Association. Dauncey
is the founder of the Association and has been a volunteer
since it was founded eight years ago.
