From what Mayor Rick Hamilton
says, it would be easy to go to Elliot
Lake, and then just never want to
leave. Mayor Hamilton, who has
been a resident since 1979, was a
miner by trade. Elliot Lake has long
been known as the “uranium capital
of world,” but Mayor Hamilton says
that that legacy is now a big part of
the city’s past. Mayor Hamilton has
a great vantage point from which to
promote the city’s assets—he has
been Mayor since 2006, and a
councillor for seven years (four of
which he served as Deputy Mayor).
LEISURE AND AMENITIES
In the Mayor’s most recent
welcome message, he speaks about
how Elliot Lake has the best of both
worlds in terms of activities. Elliot
Lake is not only beautiful, but it
offers a complete variety of options
for recreational opportunities, per-
haps some that you would not expect
in a smaller community like Elliot
Lake: “No traffic, no lineups or
crowds, and the beauty of nature
ever present in our backyards,” he
says.
