their customers. “There is more of an
engineering component to what Quad
does: we offer more efficient timelines.
More than that, we have the ability to
monitor and control the manufactur-
ing process and ensure quality control
for our customers,” Levick comments.
Quad would not be able to do this if
their manufacturing was done over-
seas: “if there are queries or problems
during manufacture, we can resolve
them right away.”
The company subcontracts all of
its manufacturing to a tight-knit net-
work of machine shops and suppliers
that are aware of the company’s capa-
bilities, and vice versa: some suppliers
have been working with Quad since
day 1. “We know our fabricators. Get-
ting things built offshore, well, you
may get an acceptable product, or you
may not.”
In an era when more and more
businesses are sourcing offshore, we
at Quad are proud that we use local
machine shops to build our products,”
Pataki adds.
GOING FORWARD
Quad Engineering is founded on
custom work, and everything the com-
pany does is done from the ground up.
We really pride ourselves on process
engineering, and have a very strong
team to carry this philosophy out,”
Levick tells. The company has five
PhDs in its team, and research is a fun-
damental part of the day-to-day, for
the last 30 years and moving forward.
We really have evolved to cover
all engineering services through all
steel and metal production. From year
to year the business varies both in type
and geography,” Levick says. Most of
the company’s business is in the US,
with 80 per cent being in North Amer-
ica, but Quad has worked in Russia,
Brazil and Europe.
As organic growth continues for
Quad, the company intends to diver-
sify, but also, stick to what works. “We
think that smaller micro mills might
be the way to go, because of the newer
technologies that are available. There
are a small number of players in steel:
there are only about 100 steel mills in
North America,” Levick says. “Our
present customers are also our future
customers and we have to work hard
at keeping those relationships,” he
concludes. And if history is any indi-
cation, Quad will be offering custom
solutions to a satisfied customer base
well into the future.
