This is going to prove to be a
big boom for BC, in the next couple of
years, with some of these larger-scale
projects, and so addressing regulatory
processes is a long-overdue initiative.
Environmental organizations are well-
organized and opposing these projects
is what they do for a living, whereas
the rest of us are doing other things. So
we need to get ahead of the issues be-
fore they start.”
PROMOTING
INTERNATIONAL
INVESTMENT
IN
BC
Winter talks about the impor-
tance of opening the BC gateway for
business, especially with new inter-
national partners. He says that the
government’s job creation strategies
have largely revolved around their
establishment of the Pacific Gateway
Transportation Strategy. The Honour-
able Christy Clark, BC’s Premier, said
of the Strategy: “This Pacific Gateway
Transportation Strategy 2012-2020 fol-
lows through on our commitment to
expand British Columbia’s world-class
transportation network, strengthening
our infrastructure to get our goods to
market and generate sustainable eco-
nomic growth. In support of Canada
Starts Here – The BC Jobs Plan, our
Pacific Gateway Transportation Strat-
egy 2012-2020 will ensure B.C. is the
preferred North American gateway
for Asia Pacific trade. Our government
will continue leading trade missions
The government’s job cre-
